Center for Legal & Court Technology International Writing Competition
Topic: Looking for the best papers that tackle innovative legal issues likely to grow out of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and related technologies.
Maximum length: 3,500 words, including titles, texts, citations, footnotes, appendices/annexes, bibliography, etc. Papers that exceed this limit will be disqualified.
Three cash prizes of $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000 for the best three submissions. In addition, the winners will also have the unique opportunity of presenting their papers to a selected audience of executives from Cisco Systems, Inc.

Recording Academy and ABA Forum on Entertainment and Sports Industries: Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition
Topic: Entrants must identify research and write an essay with a proposed solution on a compelling legal issue confronting the music industry (“Essay”). All essays must be original works specifically written for the Contest. Previously published works are ineligible. The submission of works previously written for academic purposes is acceptable, provided that the work is edited to meet the guidelines of the Contest and is not identical to the prior academic work. Co-authorship of the Essay is not permitted. Papers may be reviewed by law school faculty or colleagues for editorial feedback, but such assistance may not rise to the level of co-authorship. Maximum length: Essays shall be no longer than 3,000 words not including endnotes/footnotes. Entrants must use The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, for citation style. Essays must be in English. [More information/rules in Contest Official Rules]

ABA Business Law Section: Mendes Hershman Student Writing Contest
Topic: "Business Law" is a broad category. Without attempting to define the area precisely, the subject is intended to include matters within law school curricula in courses entitled: Agency, Creditor's Rights, Bankruptcy, Financial Institutions, Business Law, Employment Law, Business Organizations, Insurance Law, Commercial Law, Oil and Gas Law, Consumer Law, Professional Responsibility, Contracts, Remedies, Corporate Finance, Secured Transactions, Corporate Governance, Securities Regulations, Corporations, Uniform Commercial Code.
Maximum length: Papers submitted are normally 20-30 pages long, but in any event should not exceed 100 pages of double-spaced typed text, including footnotes. See competition details for more submission requirements.
First Place: $1,000 cash prize.
Second Place and Third Place winners: eligibility to have their essays considered for publication in Business Law Today, the premier digital platform of curated, peer-reviewed content for the ABA Business Law Section.
Outstanding First Place papers may also be included in The Business Lawyer, a quarterly publication which is the premier business law journal in the country.

ABA: 2020 Affordable Housing & Community Development Law Student Legal Writing Competition
Topic: Entries should address any legal issue regarding affordable housing, fair housing and/or community development law.
Maximum length: Entries should be between 25-50 double-spaced pages, with 1-inch margins, in Times New Roman, 12 pt. size Font. Articles should include footnotes in Bluebook format (single spaced in Times New Roman, 10 pt. size font and which shall count towards the word limit). A single winning entry, as judged by the selection committee, will be eligible to receive a prize of (a) a $1,000 cash prize and (b) up to $1,000 reimbursement for hotel (Mandarin Oriental Hotel) and transportation expenses (not to exceed $500) to attend the Forum's Annual Conference occurring May 20-22, 2020, in Washington, D.C.*
